SSG Funding

As a Continuous Education Training Centre (CETC) approved by SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) since December 2012, SHATEC offers the Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) courses with approximately 90% funding* at Certificate level and approximately 70% funding* at Diploma level respectively, to Singaporean and Singapore PR applicants. Singaporean applicants may also apply to pay for WSQ course fees through their Post-Secondary Education Account (PSEA)*.

SHATEC Scholarships and Study Award Schemes

In partnership with local Trustees and industry partners, SHATEC offers a variety of scholarships and study awards in recognition of outstanding academic achievements, leadership qualities and special talents. The SHATEC scholarships are open to all new and local entrants who qualify for a course of full-time study in SHATEC, while the SHATEC Study Awards are presented to existing students with outstanding academic and co-curriculum achievements.

The SHATEC HDHM Scholarship

The SHATEC HDHM Scholarship is a highly coveted scholarship awarded to high potential individuals who demonstrate good academic achievements, present excellent co-curricular activities records and exhibit outstanding potential for a successful career in the hotel industry. SHATEC HDHM Scholars are expected to contribute significantly to the SHATEC community while in SHATEC, and serve as role models for all present and future students.

The two tiers of SHATEC Scholarships offered to prospective students are as follows:

  • SHATEC HDHM Merit Scholarship

➢ 100% of course fee payable (excludes miscellaneous fees)

  • SHATEC HDHM Scholarship

➢ 50% of course fee payable (excludes miscellaneous fees)

Eligibility

  • Singapore Citizens / Singapore Permanent Residents
  • Possess good pass in one of the following:

➢ SHATEC Diploma in Hotel Management 

➢ Local Polytechnic Diploma in a related discipline

  • Good Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) Records
  • Be applying for admission to a full-time HDHM upgrading programme in SHATEC

Application

  • Applicants may obtain the scholarship application form from Student Administration at the point of course enquiry.
  • Applicants are required to submit supporting documents (including academic results, CCA records and certificates of achievements). One letter of recommendation from applicant’s SHATEC/Polytechnic Lecturer or Tutor must be submitted together with the application. 
  • Applicants will be assessed on their suitability for the scholarships, based on the strength of their applications and their performance in the scholarship selection interview(s), if shortlisted. 

Applicants shortlisted for selection interview(s) will be informed via e-mail.

Terms and Conditions

  • The scholarship is offered to read the HDHM upgrading programme at SHATEC, and is tenable for the course duration of 6 months. 
  • Recipients of the scholarship (scholars) may not concurrently hold any other scholarship, fellowship, bursary, grant, award or allowance without prior approval from the School. 
  • The scholar is expected to maintain a consistent Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 3.0 and record good conduct. 
  • Scholars will be required to take part in community involvement programmes or projects deemed appropriate and/or directed by the School.  
  • If the scholar decides to withdraw from the School and/or terminate the scholarship prematurely, the School reserves the right to impose repayment of all scholarship monies disbursed to the scholar.  
  • SHATEC reserves the right not to award any scholarship if there are no candidates of sufficient merit. The decision of the selection committee is final. Enquiries or disputes surrounding its decisions will not be entertained.
SHA 50th Anniversary Scholarship

Eligibility

  • Singapore Citizens / Singapore Permanent Residents
  • Good performance in GCE ‘N’/’O’ Level or a minimum GPA of 3.0 in a preceding programme with SHATEC
  • Good Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) Records
  • Good character and conduct
  • Successful interview with Scholarship Committee
  • Not in receipt of any other scholarship or government funding in the same academic year
  • The maximum quantum for the scholarship is capped at 50% of course fee payable (excludes all miscellaneous fee)

Application

  • Applicants may obtain the scholarship application form from Student Administration at the point of course enquiry.
  • Applicants are required to submit supporting documents (including academic results, CCA records and certificates of achievements). 
  • Applicants will be assessed on their suitability for thescholarships, based on the strength of their applicationsand their performance in the scholarshipselectioninterview(s), if shortlisted.

Paul Armstrong Study Award

Eligibility

  • Singapore Citizens / Singapore Permanent Residents
  • Family Monthly Household Per Capita Income not exceeding S$750.00
  • A minimum GPA of 2.75 in a preceding programme with SHATEC
  • Good character and conduct
  • Successful interview with Scholarship Committee
  • Not in receipt of any other scholarship or government funding in the same academic year
  • The maximum quantum for the scholarship is capped at S$2,500.00 per awardee.

Application

  • Applicants may obtain the scholarship application form from Student Administration at the point of course enquiry.
  • Applicants are required to submit supporting documents (including academic results, CCA records, certificates of achievements and household income documentary evidences). 
  • Applicants will be assessed on their suitability for thescholarships, based on the strength of their applications, their family financial situation and their performance in the scholarship selectioninterview(s), if shortlisted. 
  • Applicants shortlisted for selection interview(s) will be informed via e-mail. 

Terms and Conditions

  • The scholarship awardee must consistently maintain Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 2.75 and record good conduct. 
  • Scholars will be required to take part in community involvement programmes or projects deemed appropriate and/or directed by the School.
  • If the scholar decides to withdraw from the School and/or terminate the scholarship prematurely, the School reserves the right to impose repayment of all scholarship monies disbursed to the scholar.

The Tan Chay Bing Scholarship (by HSBC Trustee)

Eligibility

  • Singapore Citizens / Singapore Permanent Residents
  • Family Monthly Household Per Capita Income not exceeding S$1,500.00
  • Good performance in GCE ‘N’/’O’ Level or a minimum GPA of 3.0 in a preceding programme with SHATEC
  • Good Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) Records
  • Good character and conduct
  • Successful interview with Scholarship Committee
  • Not in receipt of any other scholarship or government funding in the same academic year
  • The maximum quantum for the scholarship is capped at 50% of course fee payable (excludes all miscellaneous fee)

  • Successfully completed 6 months institutional training in one of the following programmes with SHATEC
➢ WSQ Higher Certificate in Culinary Arts
➢ WSQ Advanced Certificate in Food and Beverage Supervision
T
  • Good character and conduct
  • Successful interview with Scholarship Committee
  • Not in receipt of any other scholarship or government funding in the same academic year
  • The maximum quantum for the scholarship is capped at S$2,500.00 per awardee. 

Application

  • Applicants may obtain the scholarship application form from Student Administration at the point of placement for industrial attachment.
  • Applicants will be assessed on their suitability for thescholarships, based on the strength of their applications and their performance in the scholarshipselectioninterview(s), if shortlisted.
  • Applicants shortlisted for selection interview(s) will be informed via e-mail. 

Terms and Conditions

  • The scholarship awardee must complete 6 months industrial attachment with Select Group Pte Ltd.
  • The scholarship will be fully utilized to offset course fees payable for awardee’s immediate upgrading into one of the following programmes with SHATEC:
➢ Diploma in Culinary Skills
➢ Diploma in Hotel Management

  • The scholarship will not be awarded in the event the student 
➢ is unable to complete the 6 months industrial attachment with the award sponsor and/or
➢ is unable to meet any of the the criteria for upgrading into the abovementioned programmesand/or 
➢ is unable to join the scheduled intake for upgrading

  • SHATEC reserves the right not to award any scholarship if there are no candidates of sufficient merit. The decision of the selection committee is final. Enquiries or disputes surrounding its decisions will not be entertained.
EHgine Room Study Award

Eligibility

  • Singapore Citizens / Singapore Permanent Residents
  • Successfully completed 6 months institutional training in WSQ Advanced Certificate in Food and Beverage Supervision with SHATEC
  • Good character and conduct
  • Successful interview with Scholarship Committee
  • Not in receipt of any other scholarship or government funding in the same academic year
  • The maximum quantum for the scholarship is capped at S$3,000.00 per awardee. 

Application

  • Applicants may obtain the scholarship application form from Student Administration at the point of placement for industrial attachment.
  • Applicants will be assessed on their suitability for thescholarships, based on the strength of their applications and their performance in the scholarshipselectioninterview(s), if shortlisted.
  • Applicants shortlisted for selection interview(s) will be informed via e-mail. 

Terms and Conditions 

  • The scholarship awardee must complete 6 months industrial attachment with the award sponsor.
  • The scholarship will be fully utilized to offset course fees payable for awardee’s immediate upgrading into the Diploma in Hotel Management.
