What are the available payment methods?

We accept payment in:

1) Cash, Nets or Credit Card
Only available at Shatec’s Finance Office.

Please note that we accept only Singapore currency and VISA / MASTERCARD.

2) Cheques or cashier’s order
Cheque or cashier’s order from any bank in Singapore is made payable to
“Shatec Institutes Pte Ltd”.

Please write the student name and programme on the back of the cheque or cashier’s order.

3) Telegraphic Transfer

Information will be provided upon request.

Do you accept Post Secondary Education Account (PSEA) scheme to pay school fees?

Singaporeans are allowed to utilise the Post Secondary Education Account (PSEA) to offset for any of the WSQ programmes offered at SHATEC.

What are the fees incurred to apply for the full time programme?

How long does it take for my application to process and get a response?

Whilst you may enrol for the programme of your choice, SHATEC will only be able to provide you with a confirmation on your entry requirements eligibility upon viewing your certificate and result scores.

Application submitted with the full set of required supporting documents will take 14 – 28 working days to process. The processing time may be extended for those with qualifications that do not fall under stated admissions requirements.

SHATEC will keep you posted in the event your application requires a longer processing time than recommended.

What is the procedure for student pass application if I am an International student?

You are required to submit the following documents to SHATEC:

  • 2 x recent passport-size photographs (white background)
  • ICA eForm 16 and eForm V36 to facilitate STP application (complete in English and duly signed by applicant)
  • Photocopy of applicant’s passport pages showing his/her particulars and travel document’s date of validity. (At least 1 year)
  • Photocopy of applicant’s Birth Certificate (Certified/Notarized copy)
  • Photocopy of applicant’s Certified/Notarized copy of Education Results/Certificates and Transcripts
  • Photocopy of the student pass (For applicants transferred from other schools in Singapore) or Notification for Cancellation of Student Pass, Visit pass and Embarkation Form.
  • Photocopy of financial ability for Visa Required countries. (e.g. bank statement, fixed deposit/savings account)
  • International student Pre-Admission Settling-in Services (iPASS) processing fee S$400.00 (upon admission)

Upon receipt of the requested documents, SHATEC will assist to submit your application for a student pass to ICA.

International Pre-Admission Settling-in Services (iPASS)

Effective from 2015 academic year, SHATEC will extend the International student Pre-Admission Settling-in Services (iPASS) to international students who are applying with SHATEC.

The iPASS is design to value-add service standards for international students in preparation for course commencement which includes:

  • Student’s pass application and collection services
  • Medical examination appointment and collection of report

With the introduction of iPASS, international students will be able to settle down quickly in a new environment without having to worry on administrative issues pertaining to student’s pass and medical screening.

How long will it take for ICA to process my student pass application?

The general processing time for a new application is approximately four weeks upon the receipt of a duly completed application by the ICA, however some applications may take a longer time to process.

SHATEC will monitor and notify you on your application outcome by email, whenever available.

How will I be notified when my student pass application is approved?

Upon the approval of the student pass application, the In-Principle Approval letter (IPA) will be sent to you together with a Welcome Kit including:

  • Matriculation and Orientation day
  • Appointment date for medical check up
  • ICA e-Appointment date for the collection for the Student’s Pass

Upon arrival at SHATEC, we shall complete the following Student’s Pass formalities and admissions process:

  • Signing and/or submission of original student’s contract
  • Confirmation of medical checkup and e-Appointment dates for the collection of Student’s Pass
  • Payment of course fees
What is the minimum class attendance?

The minimum attendance is 90% for International students on Student Passes and 75% for Singaporeans/PRs.

What is a typical class size like?

Class size is capped from 20 to 40 students for theoretical session and 10 to 18 students for practical session.

Will there be any term breaks in between the course of study?

Yes, term breaks schedule will differ due to the nature of each programme. Therefore, please refer to your respective programme course schedule which will be provided during your matriculation day for more information.


Time-tables for different programmes will change every term. Thus, there is no fixed time-table for any programmes. As a general guideline, classes are conducted from Monday – Saturday. Lessons may start as early as 8am and end about 6pm for weekdays and occasional Saturdays. Also, while participating in the operation of practical sessions, students may be required to work on shift and on weekends and public holidays.

Is there any age limit to enroll into your full time programme?

Although SHATEC full time programmes are targeted largely at school leavers, there is no age limit for enrolment into our programmes. We will be happy to receive your application.  Kindly note that the medical insurance coverage for students will be up to 62/ 65 years of age.

Is there any application deadline?

At SHATEC, we follow a rolling admissions policy, accepting successful Singaporean/PR applicants on a first-come-first-served basis. So whilst there is no fixed closing date for Singaporean/PR, we strongly advise applicants to apply early.

For International applicants, the application deadline is 1 month prior to commencement of programme.  Please kindly contact the Student Admissions for more information.

What is the industrial attachment like in a typical hotel setting?

During the Industrial Attachment period, the hotels will assign a duty roster. As per standard industry practice, one may be roster for morning (typically 7am to 3 pm), afternoon (3 pm to 11 pm), midnight (11 pm to 7 am) or split-shifts (i.e. typically over lunch and dinner hours).

The Student Admissions department will be assisting students to coordinate for internship training with the respective hotels. Upon confirmation of acceptance by the organisation, the student is required to sign a contract with the hotels and abide by the terms and conditions stated.

In the hotel industry, it is important that you must know all the technical skills of the job so that you can manage your job duties confidently. Hence, all graduates, even degree holders, will typically start from entry level (eg. Front Office Agent, Waiter or Commis Cook). However, with the knowledge and skills you have learnt in SHATEC and with the right attitude, you will be well placed for career advancements.

Can I defer/disrupt for NS should I apply with SHATEC?

For male applicants, they may apply with SHATEC only upon confirmation if they are eligible for deferment.  Applicants are advised to contact CMPB directly at 1800 367 6767 to confirm on their deferment eligibility before application.

By Bus
From Bukit Batok interchange, take bus 173 and then alight opposite Bukit Batok Swimming Complex (4th stop). It will be a 2-minute walk to SHATEC campus.

Alight at Bukit Batok station (NS2). After which, it will be a 10-minute walk to SHATEC campus.

What are your operating hours and how to contact the school?

Our operating hours are:
Monday – Thursday            :               8:30am to 6:00pm
Friday                               :               8:30am to 5:30pm

We are closed on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays.
