The workshop also kickstarts the campus recycling programme, with sorting bins for different recyclables.

Student leaders of the Sustainability @SHATEC Committee (DHA-01-22A, DHA-05-22A) held an engaging campus recycling workshop on 21st October 2022, sharing tips and the Do’s & Don’ts of recycling right with staff and students within the school and beyond. Participants were also led through an informational presentation, as well as a mobile interactive quiz to stack up against one another in their recycling knowledge.

Prior to organising the workshop, a short survey was also conducted among students, academic and non-academic staff to discover the level of awareness or habits on recycling, as well as to look for any gaps in recycling behaviour on campus.

“By conducting a sentiment survey among SHATEC students, staff and trainers first, they identified the problem statement and established their campaign objective: to raise awareness of proper recycling within the school in a fun and educational way!”

“Planning the workshop involved extensive research, planning, practice and some laughter along the way, as we are still new to Sustainability. The information has to be factual and our method of delivery must not mislead our audience as well.”
