SGUnited Skills Programme at a Glance

The SGUnited Skills Programme prepares mid-career individuals for future job roles through reskilling or skills upgrading. Prepare yourself for a future job role through six to 12 months full-time certifiable training programmes by training providers.

Programme Eligibility
  • All Singapore Citizen and Permanent Resident job seekers aged 21 and above are eligible, excluding:
    1. Graduated or graduating in 2019 / 2020 from ITE, Polytechnics, Universities, and other educational institutions. This includes graduates from private universities as well as overseas institutions; and
    2. Graduated from the educational institutions mentioned in a) and completed or completing their National Service (NS) in 2019 / 2020 and are entering the labour force.
  • Individuals who took on post-graduate programmes (both directly after undergraduate programmes and mid-careerists with working experience) will be eligible for SGUS.
  • Individuals will need to commit to the training programme on a full-time basis.

Applicable to all 6-Month SGUS Programmes: 

Duration
6 Months (Institutional Training)

Mode of delivery:
May include combination of classroom training, practical hands-on, self-directed/home-based learning, supervised field trainings and capstone projects, meant to prepare trainees for in-demand job roles.

Mode of assessment:
May include written/online assignments, projects/presentations, written tests as well as practical evaluations.

Schedule
Lessons will be conducted over a maximum of 5 days per week (may include weekends).

Venue
Lessons will be conducted mainly at SHATEC campus.

Award of Certificate
Individuals who have achieved at least 75% attendance and passed all subjects will be awarded the certificate for the relevant courses:

• SGUnited Skills Programme in Industry Certificate in Hospitality Operations

• SGUnited Skills Programme in Industry Certificate in Culinary Preparation

• SGUnited Skills Programme in Industry Certificate in Baking

* Total Course Fee Payable includes GST of 7%.

SkillsFuture Credit can be used to offset course fee payable.

Trainees must fulfill minimum attendance requirements and pass assessments to qualify for course fee subsidies. Trainees who are unable to meet these requirements may be asked to return the course fee subsidies that they have received.

Trainees are allowed to exit without penalty if they are successfully placed into a job or have secured a job on their own accord while undergoing training. However, trainees who exit the programme without a valid reason may be asked to return the course fee subsidies that they have received.

Training Allowance
  • $1,200 per trainee per month of SGUS training, except:
    1. Trainees who are receiving COVID-19 Support Grant (CSG) will receive $400 SGUS Training Allowance (TA) per month of SGUS training, until they are no longer receiving CSG. Thereafter, they will receive $1,200 SGUS training allowance monthly.
    2. Trainees who are receiving Self-Employed Person Income Relief Scheme (SIRS) will receive $200 SGUS TA per month of SGUS training, until they are no longer receiving SIRS. Thereafter, they will receive $1,200 SGUS training allowance monthly.
  • Trainees must meet minimum 75% attendance to qualify for SGUS TA.
