Diploma in Hotel Management

This comprehensive programme consists of subjects focused on developing a strong fundamental understanding in key areas of hospitality operations and management. You will acquire a thorough appreciation of hospitality management within the lodging industry, as well as gain operational and strategic, management tools required for international hotel, tourism and restaurant management.

Students who enroll into the Singapore Workforce Skills Qualification (WSQ) programme get credit waiver into Shatec Institutes Diploma in Hotel Management programme. Terms and conditions apply.

Structure

All our programmes feature two components – institutional’ training and an internship in the hospitality and tourism industry. Institutional training gives hosts academic grounding at our in-campus training restaurants and our commercial restaurant.
The 6-month internship provides hosts with the opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge to real situations, develop their analytical competences and acquire business acumen. Hosts who do well during internships often are offered employment by the same hotels.

On an average 1: 40 teacher-to-student ratio (theory) and 1:20 teacher-to-student ratio (practical)

Delivery Method and Duration

The curriculum is taught over 6 terms of 10 to 12 weeks, fulfilling an average of 290-300 contact hours per term with a 1-2 week break between terms.

2 years (1.5 years Institutional Training, 6 months Internship)
*Internship component for all international students is subject to Singapore government law and regulations.



Entry Requirements


Minimum entry requirements exist as a guide to the level of education required to enrol into each programme. It is important for our applicants to realise that our decision is based on your overall suitability for the programme and not solely on meeting the minimum requirements.


Singaporean/PR:

  • 3 GCE 'O' level credits (including a pass in English¹)
  • Successful interview

International:

WSQ Higher Certificate in Food and Beverage Service

At least 10 years of formal education-

Band 5.0 in the international English Language Test System (IELTs) or a minimum score of 61 points (internet-based total) or 173 points (computer-based total)
in the TEST or English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) OR a pass in Shatec Institutes Certificate in Hospitality 
Successful interview

¹Applicants who failed English at GCE 'O' Level or those who do not posses IELTS or TOEFL certification may opt to take the English Proficiency Examination at Shatec Institutes for a fee of S$50.


Shatec Institutes Diploma in Hotel Management

Attain minimum GPA of 2.5
Pass in Internship
Pass in WSQ Higher Certificate in Food and Beverage Service

Application Fees (NON-REFUNDABLE):
Local - S$ 120

Programme Fees (WSQ Certificate and Shatec Institutes Diploma):

International - S$ 24,700

Fees stated are subjected to Singapore prevailing Goods and Services Tax (GST).



Graduation and Degree


WSQ Higher Certificate in Food & Beverage Service
Students who successfully completed the WSQ programme will be awarded the WSQ Higher Certificate in Food & Beverage Service by Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA).

Shatec Institutes Diploma in Hotel Management
Students who successfully completed the programme will be awarded the Diploma in Hotel Management by Shatec Institutes. Graduates may choose to pursue degree programmes in our partner universities and institutions.
