This certificate introduces hosts the fundamentals of English in the areas of speaking, listening and writing. Hosts will be exposed to local knowledge of the city, food and culture as well. The aim is to allow them to apply such knowledge in assisting their guests. Concurrently, hosts are introduced to vocabulary and language that is particular to the hospitality industry. They will also learn about the broader functional aspect of English as a global language on the world stage. The emphasis is on guiding hosts through the learning journey of accustoming themselves in an all-English speaking environment and the local way of life. This certificate offers an opportunity for hosts to practise listening skills, and presentation skills, written skills and workplace skills.

On an average 1:40 teacher-to-student ratio (theory)
Delivery Method and Duration
This certificate is taught over 2 terms and can be completed in 6 months (650 hours).
Entry Requirements
Singaporean/PR:
Minimum GCE ‘N’ level
Obtain at least ‘D’ grade on Shatec Institutes English Proficiency Test
Successful interview
International:
Minimum 10 years of formal education
Obtain at least ‘D’ grade on Shatec Institutes English Proficiency Test

Graduation
Students who successfully completed the programme will be awarded the Certificate in Hospitality English by Shatec Institutes. Graduates may choose to pursue Shatec Institutes Diploma programmes.
